Message
In antique paintings such as picture scrolls and folding screens, we can observe a wide variety of died and woven materials: various outfits people wear, simple fabric pieces that can be seen in the inside of some houses, clothes of monks walking on the road, outfits of those that were traveling, and beautifully dyed reins in red. In many scenes such as the world of the common people, the life of the upper class, temples and shrines, performing arts, and the world of Japanese tea ceremony, those antique textiles that have been passed on to the present are weaving each person’s life and people’s livelihoods. These are the precious records of Japanese people’s lives that have continued since ancient times.
I would be delighted if you can experience the entrance to the wonderful world of antique threads and the beautifully dyed materials that show attractive unique colors that have passed through generations.
