古裂古美術 蓮

 

この夏、東京・渋谷ヒカリエで開催された展覧会「ソール・ライターの原点 ニューヨークの色」のために来日されました、ソール・ライター財団のマーギット・アーブ氏とマイケル・パリ―ロ氏が日本滞在中、ご多忙の中、古裂古美術 蓮をご訪問下さいました。江戸時代の染織品の色彩、とりわけ単色の裂が持つ、奥行きのある深く澄んだ独特の色を御覧いただきながら、時間と色彩の関係についてなどを語り合わせていただき、貴重なお時間を過ごさせていただきました。写真家で画家のソール・ライターは、日本美術をこよなく愛し、生涯「色」を深く愛しました。

 

今年三十周年を迎える当店は、これからも色の存在を大切に思い、古い染織品をとおして日本の美の一端を次の時代に繋げてゆけたらと願っております。

Ms. Margit Erb and Mr. Michael Parillo from the Saul Leiter Foundation, who were in Japan for the exhibition “100th Anniversary of SAUL LEITER’s Birth: Origins in Color”held at Shibuya Hikarie in Tokyo, paid a visit to Kogire Kobijutsu Ren despite their busy schedule. We spent precious time talking about the relationship between time and color while looking at the textiles from the Edo period and especially the deep and clear colors of monochromatic fabrics. Photographer/painter Saul Leiter had a great love for Japanese art and a deep love for “color” throughout his life.

 

Ren, celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, will continue to cherish the existence of color and hope to pass on a piece of Japanese beauty to the next era through antique Japanese dyed and woven works.
