毎号楽しみな表紙絵は、今月はモノクロの可愛いらしい象さんです。赤い紐をお鼻にかけて、『銀座百点』の看板を掲げています。モノクロの中で一点だけ赤の色彩がきいており、とてもお洒落です。
この象さんを見ておりましたら、遠い昔、学生時代に友人と、サーカスに行ったことを思い出しました。動物好きの友人がチケットを取ってくれたのだと思います。二十歳の頃だったでしょうか。初めて行ったサーカスでした。彼女は2度目だと話してくれました。象さんの曲芸があったのか、記憶が曖昧です。でも、何かの動物の曲芸に、友人と「なんてお利口なんだろう！」と手を叩いて喜んだり、空中ブランコにどきどきしたり、普段味わうことのない、楽しいひとときを過しました。帰りに友人と夕食を共にして別れた遠いあの日。あの友人は今どこにいるのだろうと、彼女の面影が心に浮かびました。

We wanted to inform you that Ginza Hayskuten magazine is currently running an ad about our shop in the October 2025 issue. This magazine is published on the 1st of each month and is distributed free of charge at the stores of the members of the Ginza Hyakutenkai. If you have a chance to come to Ginza, please feel free to take a look when you find one at one of the stores.
The cover of the magazine that I look forward to every issue, this month’s is a lovely monochrome elephant. He has a red string hanging from his trunk and is holding up a sign that reads Ginza Hyakuten. The only thing that stands out in the monochrome scene is this red color, which makes it very stylish.
Looking at this elephant reminded me of a long time ago going to a circus with a friend from high school. This friend who loved animals got me a ticket for the circus. I think I was around 20 years old at that time. It was the first circus I went to. She told me it was her second time. I have a vague memory of whether there was any elephant in the circus, but I remember when I saw some animals performing acrobatics, my friend and I applauded in delight, saying,“How clever!”, we were thrilled watching acrobatics on the trapeze and had a fun time that we don’t normally get to experience. On the way home, we had dinner together and then parted in two different ways. I wonder where my friend is now, and her face came to my mind.
