毎号楽しみな表紙絵は、今月はキッチン関係のいろいろな「道具」です。どれもよく使い込まれている道具のように思われます。表紙を暫し眺めていると、自分が日々使う道具のことが思い起こされました。例えば毎日使っているコーヒードリッパーは、思えばもう40年以上も使っています。これは京都のイノダコーヒーのもので、私が十代後半に買い求めて以来、失くさず、壊さず、毎日使い続けてきた道具です。飴釉がたっぷりと掛けられた濃い焦げ茶色のやきもののコーヒードリッパーですが、現在販売されているものは釉薬があまり重ねられていないのか、茶の色が薄いのです。京都のお店で見かけました。
あまりに普段の自分の日常に馴染みすぎて、このところ大切に扱っていませんでしたが、もし壊れたら悲しい自分の長年のだいじな道具。この表紙は私に普段の暮らしに在る道具を大切に使うことを思い出させてくれました。

Ginza Hyakutenmagazine is currently running an ad about our shop in the November 2025 issue. This magazine is published on the 1st of each month and is distributed free of charge at the stores of the members of the Ginza Hyakutenkai. If you have a chance to come to Ginza, please feel free to take a look when you find one at one of the stores.
The cover of the magazine that I look forward to every issue, this month’s is an image of various kitchen related tools. They all look well-loved kitchen tools. As I stared at the cover for a while, it reminded me of the tools I use every day. For example, the coffee dripper I have been using every day for over 40 years. It is from Inoda Coffee in Kyoto, and I have never lost it or broken it and I have used it every day since I bought it in my late teens. The one I have has a dark brown color which was from multiple glaze applications, but the ones they sell now are in lighter color which seems to have only a few coating of the glaze.
It has become such an integral part of my daily life that took for granted and I haven’t been taking good care of it recently. The magazine cover made me realize that it’s an important tool that if it were to break, I would be very sad as I have used it for many years. This cover reminds me to take good care of my daily tools.
